Description
It is 100% your responsibility to make sure I know your name by Friday October 30 2009 (or the end of week five.)
- The best way to do this is to come to class early each day. I generally try to arrive a few minutes early and I practice people's names while we are waiting for class to start.
- Another effective way is to make a little desk tent with your name written on it in colorful, large letters.
- It also works well for you to personally tell me a unique fact about yourself ("I'm an identical twin." "I fly helicopters." "I write a poem every day.")
- Check in with me often until I assure you that I know your name.

Objective
It is my strongly held belief that real learning only happens in relationship. Maybe humans can memorize facts in isolation, but in order for knowledge to really sink in and affect your heart and mind, you have to be in relationship, discussing knowledge and its implications. This is a big class. The only way for us to connect with each other in a class this size is to work hard at knowing each other. Let's start with our names.
