Roll Call Attendance

1 point per day, 23 points total

At the beginning of each class, I will call roll. If you are not in the class, able to say "here" when I call your name, you will not receive the one point for that day. No exceptions.

Card Attendance

1 point per day, 23 points total

At the end of each class, you will line up and hand me your completed attendance card, telling me your name as you hand it to me. Cards are not accepted early. If you don't turn a certain day's card in when cards are being collected, you will not receive the point for that card. No exceptions.

Learn Your Name by the End of Week Five Assignment

It is 100% your responsibility to make sure I know your name by Friday October 30 2009 (or the end of week five.) The best way to do this is to come to class early. I generally try to arrive a few minutes early and I practice people's names while we are waiting for class to start. It also works well for you to personally tell me a unique fact about yourself ("I'm an identical twin." "I fly helicopters." "I write poem every day.")

Participation Assignment

You receive these points based on whether you speak in class. This is a class in which all our discussions are based on opinions. So there's no pressure to say the right thing. Lots of times during discussion, you will be commenting on what you saw, what you liked. In order to earn these points, you should make 5 comments in class over the course of the term. About one every other week. In doing so, you can be voicing your opinion or asking a question. Its a casual environment, so don't sweat it.
